Built for the way you actually shoot - square crops, Instagram posts, balanced compositions. A 12×12 brings that 1:1 ratio off the screen and onto the wall without the awkward letterboxing you get from rectangular frames.
If you shoot for Instagram, your favourite photos are probably already 1:1. Cropping a square photo into a 4:5 or 3:2 rectangle forces you to add empty space or trim a subject you composed deliberately. A 12×12 keeps the composition intact and gives you a print that looks visually balanced from any angle.
12×12 is a 1:1 aspect ratio. If your photo was shot square (Instagram default before 2015, or set manually in the camera app today), no crop required. Standard 4:3 phone photos will have one dimension trimmed - usually the long edge.
Minimum recommended resolution: 2,880 × 2,880 pixels (240 DPI). Default iPhone and Pixel quality exceeds this.
Square prints reward symmetry. A 2×2 grid of 12×12s (with 2″ gaps) takes up roughly 26×26″ on the wall and works above a queen bed or a 60″ sofa. A 3×3 grid is a 40×40″ statement piece - closer in visual weight to a single 30×40. For uneven numbers, 5 squares in a cross/plus shape often beats a straight row.
Production 3–5 business days, shipping 3–7 business days. Most 12×12 orders arrive in 6–12 business days. Square boxes pack tightly when you order multiples - the per-frame shipping rate drops noticeably at 4+ items.
Yes - Instagram serves photos at 1080×1080 by default, which is below our DPI target. But if you've kept the original photo from your camera roll (not the Instagram-saved version), you'll have a much higher-resolution file. Use the original whenever possible.
Yes - but commit to one geometry per "section." Mix the two and the wall reads as messy. A row of squares paired with a row of 11×14s in the same horizontal band looks intentional.
Yes. A square frame ships in a square box that's noticeably more giftable than a long rectangular tube. Wrap one with a flat ribbon and you're done.
The hardware is identical - two standoff posts. On a square, the visual symmetry of the panel makes the floating effect read even stronger.
We also offer 16×16 ($184). For a much larger square statement, choose a 30×30 or 30×40 panel and crop your photo square within it.
