An 8×10 reads as "personal" rather than "statement." It's the right size when the viewer is meant to walk close to it - a desk shelf, a bedside table, a console next to the entry door. On a large empty wall it tends to look lost; for that, jump to 16×20 or larger, or buy three 8×10s and group them.
An 8×10 is a 4:5 aspect ratio - the same crop Instagram uses for portrait posts. If you shoot iPhone or Pixel at the default 4:3 ratio, you'll need to trim a little off the long edge; the upload tool shows you exactly what will print before you check out.
For a sharp 8×10 we recommend at least 1,920 × 2,400 pixels (240 DPI). Any recent smartphone photo well exceeds this. Photos heavily zoomed in, screenshot, or pulled from Facebook Messenger often don't - our uploader flags those automatically.
At 8×10 the visual mass on a wall is small. Hung alone, it works above a narrow piece of furniture (a console up to about 36″ wide) at standard 57″ eye-line height. Above a 30″-wide desk, it sits at the centre and looks deliberate. Above a 60″ sofa, alone, it looks shy - pair it with two more 8×10s or one 16×20 instead.
